Sorry, not having the full version online is part of what makes it special. Also, I don't think my web server could handle the web traffic. The full game is a lot bigger than the demo.

  • Comments: I think broomsticks advance demo is just fine, if you realy want to have some fun get the FUll Version it's got full broomsticks, br. 3d (awesome game) and lastertron, which is also lots of fun. Paul, a while back you said something about being able to edit the drop down menus for characters, items, and backgrounds on broomsticks, so you can have even more choices(like 15 on each). Could you tell us how to do this? Try to make it very detailed and step by step because as much as I know about computers I can be a real idiot sometimes! Thanks!

    Thanks for your support Daniel!

You can add one choice to each menu. Here are instructions:

    1. Install Broomsticks if you have not already done so
    2. Go to one of the games (e.g. Regular).
    3. Instead of clicking the green start button, right click on the blue background and select "view source"
    4. Find the appropriate PARAM line and change the value there
    5. Save the file

    That's it!

  • Comments: at the top right hand corner on brm. 3d what does the fps stand for(speed, height)?

It stands for "frames per second." This is how fast your graphics are drawing. The higher the number, the smoother the animation will be. Above 60 or so it doesn't matter anymore. Below 20 it starts to get choppy.

  • Comments: Paul, why don't you sort of make a .bat file that links you to a program that asks wether or not you would like to run it full screen then editted the defult.cmd file to tell broomsticks 3d to do it full screen (or not) and then run broomsticks. I think you should up date your guest book (like I have, I hope it works) also up the top it does not mention broomsticks 3D. When I run broomsticks 3D smallscreen (not full screen) I can't see the frames per second or my score also I have an unusualy large screen and an unusuly bad computer so when I enter my screen resolution it goes at 13 fps(aprox, when I look at the sky its fine ;-), when I do it the default way, It flickers. I don't really expect to get a small problem like this fixed it is only my computer not your game!Is the source distributed freely? can you enter the comp 2 times? Why dose broomsticks 3D automaticly shut when you change the hz. Did you program the castle and court file? did you write the engine from scratch? Can I put broomsticks, not just a link, on my site?
    1. You rule! ;-)
    2. Your site rules! :-]
    3. Your game rules! ;-D
    4. Your guest book rules! :-?

My screen res is 1024 by 768 if that helps
  • Rating: I think it rules!

    Dougall,

    that is a good idea.

If the game is shutting down when you change the refresh rate (hz) it probably means that your graphics card cannot support that particular rate. What have you tried? If I were you, I would try 640x480 at 70, 75, and 80 Hz.

Yes, you can enter the competition two times.

The game is based on the Titan engine. I modified that engine to make Broomsticks 3D. The castle is based on a RA3 map. I made a lot of changes to it though.

Yes, you can put broomsticks on your site!

    Thanks!!

If you have specific suggestions for improving Broomsticks, I'll be glad to hear them.

  • Comments: I like the game, but have not worked it out... is there an object to the game other than flying around on a broomstick looking for new brooms??? I can pick up the red ball and throw it, but what about the gold one, and is there a way of winning or loseing, or does it just keep going??? There is no instruction manual that comes with the game, so it makes it that much harder to play... Could you please send me some type of instructional txt file so I can understand this game a little... Thank you

Right now, Broomsticks 3D is practice for what is coming later. There will be a computer opponent and later network play. Of course, when this happens depends on how much time I have to work on the game! :-)

You are right, Larrin. However, in the end when you are done making your modifications and doing all your testing, it is a good idea to zip up the folder. That way it is easier to distribute.

  • Comments: Paul, about Daniels problem, I think it will work if you remove the www. part, try it. How do you take screen shots?

While the game is running, click on the "Print Scrn" button on your keyboard. It is usually between F12 and "Scroll Lock". Then, exit the game and start up the Windows Paint Program. Select "Paste" from the "Edit" menu. Let me know if that works for you.

  • Comments: Ok Paul, I have a ? about screenshots, and I thought you might know. You see, right now I am making a Harry Potter website on Front Page, and even though I do not plan to publish it to the web because I don't really have the money, I want it to be as real AS POSSIBLE. Plus, I would just like to know the answer to this question: if I were to make a screen shot of my own, during gameplay, and then post them on the web, would that violate some copyright law? Would I need to give credit to the people who made the game (like electronic arts) even though i made the screenshots? Thanks!

If it is a commercial game, you should be careful. They may ask you to remove the graphics. However, feel free to use screenshots of Broomsticks or Broomsticks 3d.

You need a graphics card that supports OpenGL and then you have to make sure you have OpenGL drivers installed. Examples of cards that do work are Nvidia cards and most ATI cards. Motherboards with integrated graphics do not always have OpenGL drivers...

Based on the what you told me about your computer, it is probably too old to run Broomsticks3D.

    Mark,

since the game is running, that means that you do have OpenGL working. However, your OpenGL driver might have a bug in it that is causing this problem.

  • Comments: Hello! It's been such a long time since I last went on this site. There are so many more characters and quite a few skins! I've been drawing anime characters. I still love the game, but I don't play it as much as I used to. I'm stuck with my dad's computer and I can't install it because of his cd drive. It has frozen while trying to load nearly every cd I put in there, and the rest are at risk of being scratched. I'm gonna install it on the new computer when I get it. Will I need an upgraded file to run Broomsticks on Windows XP? I'm also going to start on a new set of characters. I've got heaps I haven't released yet, but they're all on my older computer which is getting fixed. My older computer 'forgot' it had a soundcard or a printer, and it was losing files, so I had to stop using it. Has that happened to your computer before? Ok, I think this message is long enough... What was I thinking?! I need at least double.. Oh forget it, I'll double the length in the next message. BYE!!!!! BYE!!!!! BYE!!!!!

    Matthew,

nice to hear from you again! I'm glad that you are still having fun with the Full Version. It should work with Windows XP. The only time I have seen something like that (losing files) is when a hard-drive starts to fail.

  • Comments: Paul, do you plan to make other games in the future? Also, since you seem to be a good source, do you know a CHEAP ($50-175) animation software, that I could use to make little mini cartoon movies. My dad and I want to get a realy good graphics package for our new computer, that we will hopefuly get for christmas, but he said they can cost up to $800 or 900. Thanks!

I may make more games in the future, if I have time. :-)

I don't really do animation, so I am not the best person to ask. However, I have seen some cool animations done with flash, so you may want to look into that (www.macromedia.com).

  • Comments: (Hey Daniel, what kind of cartoon? A good graphics package is Adobe Photoshop 6, but it's almost $1500. If the cartoon type was like a Japanese Anime/Magna cartoon you'd need AdPhoSh6) I GOT MY NEW COMPUTER!!!!!!!! I'm gonna install Broomsticks straight away!

    Excellent. :-)

  • Comments: Paul, I think Dougall's Idea for a screenshots page is a good idea. I don't realy think that a screenshots contest is nessecary but we could send you a few broomsticks scrn shots and you could put them in the "sample screenshots" section on the homepage. You don't have one of the "sample screenshots" pgs. for brm. 3d so I guess you'd have to make a new pg. If you really don't like this Idea, thats fine, just tell us and we'll shut up. :)

I agree, there should be a page but probably not a contest. I will make a broomsticks 3D screenshot page soon. Remind me if I forget! :-)
