I just did! :-) Thanks Mike!

  • Comments: This game is GREAT Paul! You really know how to make a game like this good! I bought the full version and it's 10 times better than the demos!!! (You got it inspired from Quiddich, right?) Well, I like your idea of downloading new characters, and that makes it fun. I might even send in a set of characters someday. (If you're wondering, Spectre is my screen name.)

Thanks Spectre! I'm glad you are having fun with the Full Version. Yes, it was inspired by Quidditch, however the gameplay (how players fly) is based on a game that I made a long time ago, before Harry Potter.

If you do make characters, let me know!

  • Comments: i have just seen the screen shots for the 3-d verson and i would like to know 1)how long would it take to reach me(i live in england)? 2)in the 3-d demo do you actually get to play it? 3)how long will it take for the 3-d one to come out? please get back to me YOUR WEB SITE IS SO GREAT!!!

It will take several days to get to England, maybe a week. Yes, in the 3D demo you get to play! I'm not sure when Broomsticks 3D will be finished. I have not had much time to work on it lately!

    Thanks!

  • Comments: Hi Paul! Thank you so much for making a great game. Right after I tried the demo, I got the full version and it was 100 times better. I think kids in the future will definately love it. I give your game 120%!

You are welcome. Thanks for the nice review, I'm glad you like the game!

  • Comments: Hello everybody. I still absolutely love the game. I had a frien over the other day and we were playing it. She got quite annoyed with me because I kept absolutley kicking her butt. Sh esaid it was the keys she was using. So we switched and I still won. LOL Anyway, does anybody here know when the 5th book, Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix is coming out?????? I'm getting SO impatient. I have to go now. I'm reading the series for like the millionth time. LOL. Bye

Thanks Marty! Playing a friend is much better than playing the computer, especially if you win all the time! :-)

  • Comments: hey paul maybe u remember me, i was here about 1-2 years ago, but then i was brad17. anyway i was wondering what the system requirements are for b3d. i have a PII 233 with 8mb 3d card, would that be enough to run the game smoothly? Tony Hawks 2 runs pretty smooth on my computer, so i gather b3d would? if u have msn pls add me to ur contacts skate_on@msn.com i would like to get in touch again.

Sure I remember you, you made the Pokemon characters!

If the card you have has OpenGL support, it should run. However, it will probably run pretty slowly. For it run very smoothly, you will need a newer computer. The br3d rendering engine is similar to the Quake3 engine.

  • Comments: thx paul, my card supports opengl but i cannot get it to run properly. have you ever thought about making a broomsticks 3d cave edition? that would be cool.

Ddi you install the OpenGL drivers? What kind of card is it?

Actually, I could make it into a CAVE game pretty easily. I may do that sometime.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe it's time to get a new graphics card. :-)

  • Comments: Paul, looks like someone stole Broomsticks and put it on Palm. One thing for sure, it has the same background, field, and one of the charactor images. The address is: http://www.pda3dware.com/quidditch.htm Worst part is it's free. Hope nobody stole it. -Aaron

Aaron, thanks for finding that. It looks like it is a ripoff of the demo version of my game, not the full version. It is shareware (free trial only).

I'm not terribly upset about it except that this person did not ask for permission, especially for the graphics. Maybe I need to send him an email. :-)

Update: I did send him an email. It was a nice email, not nasty. I just wanted him to acknowledge my work and he promised to do so in the manual for his game. Since he was polite and cooperative, everything is good. :-)

The Broomsticsks demo is 2D. I may release a demo of Broomsticks 3D also. The only problem is that it will be very big and so it will take people a long time to download and may overload my server. :-(

that's ok, I like receiving mail from Broomsticks fans! :-)

Glad to hear that you are considering working with computers. :-)

Yes, you can use any jpg image as a background for the game.

The Broomsticks 3D game is first person. However, I don't have any character models yet.

It's because of the way I wrote the code. I didn't expect anyone to play with 0 red balls! :-)

  • Comments: me again. have you got my order yet if u did send it asap. i play the advanced demo with my sister and she always wins. maybe i might have a winning strike with the full version. u should change the full version and add a name instead of just full version. like Quidditch 2002. my birthday is coming soon on march 10 so i might make birthday special characters. first with me, then my sister, my mom and dad who hate hights and a birthday cake that has candles that go out when decending. still luv ur game. bye -takeru(herald jang)

    Takeru,

I have not gotten your order yet. When did you send it?

Thanks for the suggestion. When I make big changes to the game I may rename it.

If you do make your own special characters, make sure you let me know!

I have created a few sets of characters, but I'll have to send them in later as I can't find a computer in the computer room at school that has a working disk drive. There's "Modern meets Arcade", "Bugz Attack", and... I can't remember the last one, but it's a good one. I've also created a couple of item sets, "Eggs" and "Super Small". See ya all later! (PS: My website isn't up and running yet!)

Nice to hear from you again Matthew!

Excellent. Send them in soon so that they can be entered into the Character Design Contest! I just started the contest today! :-)

I have not received anything yet, so it looks like you did not complete your order transaction. Do you remember the password you chose? If so, try logging into paypal and see if your transaction is there.

To make your own characteres, all you need to do is edit this image with your favorite paint program.
