  • Comments: You might get into serious trouble for using the quidditch game for commercial purposes without having an official license from warner bros. ... There are so many free games on the net that are better than your online demo... And the demo doesnt convince at all... the steering is bad and there is no sound...

I have avoided referring to any names or events from the Harry Potter books.

I don't expect everybody to like the game. However, overall, the response has been great! The reason that there is no sound is that I have kept the online version very small so that it downloads quickly for everyone. The online version is only about 40K!

  • Comments: I Love you and your game and I want Broomsticks for my computer. I was wondering, does your mini cd work on slot drives because we have a slot drive. Thanks for making this totally cool and RAD game.

Sorry Stephen, but the mini CD does not work with slot drives. Since slot drives are becoming more common, I am considering having a full-size CD version in the future. Check back soon.

Does your computer have a floppy drive? If so, you can get the floppy version.

  • Comments: QUIDDITCH This game of Quidditch is played on a field 7 boxes long, 3 wide, and 3 high. The Goal-Posts are at either end of the stadium, at ground level, middle square (you can only shoot if you’re in this square). The best way to represent this is by making three flat fields, and laying them side by side to show the three levels. BEFORE EACH PLAYER PLAYS Each Bludger moves one square closer to the nearest Seeker. The Quaffle stays still. Then, see whose side the Quaffle is in. This person plays first (if the Quaffle is in the middle, flip a coin.) Then the other player plays. Repeat the process until the Snitch is caught. ON YOUR TURN You may: 1. Move your pieces. 2. Play cards. 3. Replenish your hand to 7 cards. MOVING YOUR PIECES Each Chaser and Beater may move one space in any direction. Chasers may move two, and they may change direction in mid-move. The Keeper must stay in the Goal-Box. If the Quaffle is NOT in anyone’s possession, and is in the same space as one of your Chasers, it is taken by your Chaser and is now in your possession. Other players can’t touch the Quaffle. If the Bludger is in the same space as a Beater, it is hit two spaces in any direction. If any other player is in the same space as a Bludger, they must drop the Quaffle if they have it and get knocked one space in the same direction the Bludger hit them (of course they can’t leave the field). PLAYING A CARD Cards are really important. Without cards you can’t pass, steal, or shoot! Here are the cards: DIVE A movement boost card. Any Chaser or Beater may move straight down one extra space (Seekers two!). SPRINT A movement boost card. Any Chaser or Beater may move one extra space in any horizontal direction (no diagonals, sorry!)(Seekers two!) ROCKET A movement boost card. Any Chaser or Beater may move straight up one space (Seekers two!) PASS A passing card. You may transfer the Quaffle to any other Chaser one space in any horizontal direction and two spaces in any downward direction (diagonals are OK!)(no upward passes, sorry!) GREAT PASS A passing card. You may transfer the Quaffle to any other Chaser one space in any upwards direction, two spaces in any horizontal direction and three spaces in any downward direction (diagonals are OK!) STEAL You may take possession of the Quaffle if one of your Chasers is in the same box as an opposing Chaser carrying the Quaffle, or you may take possession of the Quaffle if one of your Chasers is in the same box as a Chaser who is receiving a pass, or you may take possession of the Quaffle if one of your Chasers is in any box through which the Quaffle is being passed. This card may be played at any time! SHOOT This card may be played at any time when one of your Chasers, carrying the Quaffle, is in the Goal-Box. Simply pick a number between one and three. Your opponent does the same. If you picked different numbers, you score ten Points and the Quaffle reappears in the center of the pitch (level 2, width 3, length 5)! If you picked the same number, the Keeper blocks the Quaffle and it becomes the possession of the first enemy Chaser to fly into that half of the field. SNITCH When you get this card, the Snitch appears. Don’t tell your opponent you have this card! The card will give a set of coordinates in this order: height, length, width. The first Seeker to enter this square earns 150 points for his team, and the game ends. There is only ONE Snitch card! IF your opponent ever stumbles into a square which borders the Snitch square, you MUST show him/her your Snitch card. If they stumble into the Snitch square itself, of course they catch the Snitch! To make the Snitch random, make ten Snitch cards before each game and hide one in the deck. Whoever has the highest score when the Snitch is caught wins!

    Wow, that's a long post! :-)

The game sounds interesting but the rules are a bit complicated. :-) Where did you learn about it?

  • Comments: Hey Paul, you may or may not remember me, but i hope you do. Anyway, thanks for all your help! I joined a qbasic game company called Insano. We are in the middle of creating a cool rpg, but we don't know how to get our company noticed. We are wondering if you could give us some publicity pointers. Anyway, thanks again. P.S. I submitted my order of a $15 CAN money order three weeks ago. Did you get it yet? I hope so, because if you didn't I'm a bit worried.

    Sure I remember you Dustin!

Excellent! Stick with it (programming), you will find it very rewarding. As for publicity, if your game is good it will generate it by itself. Of course, it helps to put it out where people can see it. If it is a Harry Potter game, get people to mention it on their Harry Potter sites.

As for your order, now I am worried to. I know that I have not received it yet because I have not received any orders in Canadian money (I have received orders from Canada, but in US dollars). Don't worry, I've got an idea. I'll send you an email.

Do you ever publish anything from the kids? like there stories or pitchures or something like that? In the book Harry Potter and the Sorcierers stone or any of the other books this is sort of a question for the Author how do you make the book so good once i was reading the latest book from right after supper 5:00 an i read until 9:00 to finish it. it was SO GOOD!!! I hope that she will come out with another book soon!!! Bye

I think that you must have come to this page from another site and meant to ask the questions to that person. Let me know if I am wrong...

    Andy,

you can do this by editing the characters in a paint program. For instance, an easy way to change colors in the Windows Paint Program is to use the "bucket fill" tool.

You can also try some of the characters in the Characters Gallery. The Alternate Characters have a red team.

I send the CD the morning after I get your order. It usually takes 2 or 3 days to get to you by mail.

The CD has about 10 MB of stuff on it. Most of that is the Broomsticks 3D demo. If you only install the regular game, it only takes a couple of megabytes.

    Karly,

A lot of people have been asking. One of the reasons why I don't is that the full version is a lot bigger than the demo version. I keep the demo version extremely small (~50K). This means that it downloads quickly for everybody and doesn't swamp my web server. Another reason is that I put a lot of extra work into the full version, which I normally wouldn't do. As a result, I think it is worth something... :-)

I'm sure I will make more games in the future. If you want to see something really cool, check out my homepage. I have made a couple of games for the million dollar Virtual Reality system that I work with.

  • Comments: i made up this game called "ground quidich" it's like quidich on the ground the rules are: 1) the chasers run around trying to knock the qwafull(socker ball) into the goals 2)the beaters knock the blugers(baseballs) so that they knock the qwafull away from the chasers' feet 3)all the players can knock the snich(golf ball) around but it's the seekers' job to find it and throw it into the goal to score 150 points and end the game.

Yes, it is the same. However, the floppy does not have the demo of the 3D game (it won't fit).

  • Comments: Hi Paul!! I think your game is really good. With which program did you make it?? VisualBasic *lol* ?? How could you make that the black balls (I don't know the English word) are flying differently always?? Great game, Duci P.S.: I'm 13 years old and in 8th grade. P.P.S.: Greetings to my friend David Schmid, who wrote here on January 25th, 2001!!!

Thanks! I wrote it using the Java programming language. The black balls constantly pick a random movement to make.
