VisBox-SX8 installed at ASC MSRC

A VisBox-SX8 was installed at the Aeronautical Systems Center Major Shared Resource Center (ASC MSRC) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. The VisBox replaces an ImmersaDesk, providing higher resolution and a much larger and brighter display within a small footprint. It features projectors that output 1400×1050 (SXGA+) at over 5000 lumens each! The system was installed as part of a major upgrade to the SciVis lab at ASC MSRC. Nuclear Power VR workshop

We participated in a VR workshop about “Visualization to Support Human Decision-Making” as it relates to the nuclear power generation industry. The workshop was co-sponsored by the Department of Nuclear, Plasma, and Radiological Engineering (NPRE) at the University of Illinois and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). The workshop brought together academic researchers, nuclear utility executives, and industry experts from around the world. Technology demonstrations included the VisBox-SX12 system at the NPRE deparment. Discussions centered around the application of VR and visualization technologies to areas such as training, construction/maintenance/decomission planning, and radiation visualization/dosage reduction.
