Display Wall Systems

The VisWall™ and VisWall-LCD™ products are scalable high resolution displays made up of many separate projectors or LCD panels. These high resolution displays allow small groups of people to collaboratively explore high resolution imagery or large amounts of data. Read more about high resolution applications.

The VisWall product is a large and seamless high resolution display that is achieved by the precise alignment of many separate projectors that all rear-project onto one large screen. The VisWall-LCD is a high resolution display made up of many flat panels, resulting in a very shallow display but with borders between tiles due to the panel bezels. The tradeoffs between these 2 products are illustrated below.

Key Features:

– Scalable, extremely high resolutions possible
– Custom configurations available (size and resolution)
– Custom structures
– Custom positioners for precise alignment
– Size is ideal for small groups of people working together

Seamless vs Bezeled

Below are some illustrations showing the differences between the VisWall and VisWall-LCD products.

Seamless: All of the imagery is visible and there are no discontinuities.
Discontinuity: All of the imagery is visible but spatial relationships are not preserved.
Hidden Pixels: Spatial relationships are preserved but parts of imagery are hidden.

The table above illustrates the effect of the bezels in the VisWall-LCD using two different approaches for displaying imagery across the borders. For some applications, discontinuity is not much of an issue. For others, hidden pixels are acceptable. However, for many applications the data is continuous and spatial relationships are important for perceptualizing the data. In these cases the borders of the VisWall-LCD can be distracting and interfere with proper visualization.
