A VisBox-SX12 was installed in the Department of Nuclear, Plasma, and Radiological Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The system features a large screen size (12’x9′) and high resolution projectors that output 1400×1050 (SXGA+) at over 5000 lumens each!
The NPRE department is using the VisBox-SX12TM system to develop virtual models of nuclear power plants. These models will have a variety of applications, including: visualizing fundamentals, training, planning for both new reactors and for maintenance of existing reactors, and radiation visualization for dosage reduction.
